The committee & coaches look forward to seeing you all for a 10.30am start, Saturday 5th September

We are looking forward to welcoming you and your children back to Wendens Ambo Minis RFC for the new rugby season. We know that the kids are chomping at the bit for rugby (and any physical activity) after this long period of lock down and we’re looking forward to getting them right back into it.

We are working towards the first training session at JFAN in Newport starting at 10:30 am sharp for all age groups on Saturday 5 September 2020. This is subject to the school approving the Club’s risk assessment. We will confirm start date later in the week.

There will be no chair’s welcome/briefing before the start of the session, all children will go straight to their training pitches. Age group areas will be clearly marked on site and club staff will be on hand to direct you if you need.

We will open the e-registration process this week via an email from membership. It is vital parents complete this ahead of the first training session to aid track and trace.

Training arrangements and games will need to be handled differently this season of course. We are taking every precaution to make the sessions safe as well as enjoyable and in line with both government and RFU guidance on COVID. We are lucky enough to have a very large outdoor site, facilitating social distancing, and the changes we will make will be common sense and in line with the things that we have become used to over the last few months. Attached are details of these changes, and what we’ll be asking of parents and kids. Some important changes and issues are: (1) sessions for all age group will continue to start at 10:30am; (2) we will not be offering food or drink on site, for the first few sessions at least; and (3) training sessions will be non-contact at all age groups, in line with current RFU guidance.

We will of course need to be flexible over the season, loosening or tightening our practices in line with developing government and RFU guidance and we’ll keep you all updated about this. In the meantime, the committee and coaches are all looking forward to seeing you and your children on 5th September.
