Newmarket asked for the U10 group to put out their strongest side first which we did and Wenden beat Newmarket in a very closely fought match 4 tries to 3. Tries were scored by Joseph Gaffan, Arthur Denison-Smith, Sam Scott-Priestley and in the last play of the match by Eddie Haxton to win the match.
The rest of the squad then played Newmarket but due to the size of their squad, Newmarket had to field a number of the players from the first match which helped them win 5 tries to none in the second game. The Wenden team fought hard and showed much of the tenacity and skill they are becoming known for. Particular mention to Ben Wiseman who tackled bravely and ran strong lines and Oliver Rae who played in both matches and showed lots of skill and resilience.
A few things to work on during training in particular how the players contest the breakdown - looking forward to our next training session.
Well done to all the players that took part as the conditions were horrible but they showed true grit and determination.
